On Monday, June 7th, the first volunteers arrived in Cochabamba
Bolivia for the annual medical mission. Mary Kay Thomas, Silvia
Denkler, Janeen Hernan and Cresencia Cruz started preparing by
visiting the new hospital in Punata and arranging for the supplies (
all 100+ boxes) to be transported there before the arrival of the
team on Friday.
The 2010 team has two surgical specialties.
There are two teams and most volunteers stay for one week plus both
weekends. Luckily this year we have the weekend overlap of all the
volunteers and we look forward to celebrating the end of the work on
Friday June 25th.
Watch this site often because we will be adding updates.
Meanwhile, Bill Wagner, CRNA opted out of doing anesthesia with MIMA
this year. Instead, he is riding the Continental Divide to raise
money and awareness of our programs in Bolivia. Follow his
